Berkeley's Fourth Street Shops light up three blocks for Dazzling Holiday Lights, a stroll with free treats and entertainment. Complimentary cookies come with Peet's Coffee, Mexican hot chocolate, cider, and regular hot chocolate, served at outside tables.
The activities are set up on Delaware at Fourth Street. Catch one of Brian Scott's two 20-minute magic shows, listen to live music by The 3 Elements, and keep an eye out for glowing LED characters, including a huge puppeteered arctic snow wolf, a snow fairy on stilts, and a roller-skating elf. Kids and grown-ups can make a night train (or any design they like) with thin Washi tape on black paper.
All the activities are free, and there's pay parking at Fourth and Virginia. Miss the festival? The lights come on every evening for the whole holiday season and stay up into February, so there's time for another lap.
